A1 Poster Size

By Michael

A1 poster size refers to “Super A1″ poster size that measures 24″ x 36”

super-a1-poster-sizeThis is not to be confused with regular A1 which measures 23.39″ x 33.11″   (594 x 841mm)
The a1 poster size is perfect for use with posters, music posters, shop windows, inside houses and club promotions.

When printing A1 poster size you should use a high quality xerox gloss coated paper.

When preparing to print an A1 poster size be sure to embed all of the fonts, make sure that your file is sent in a print ready PDF with CMYK 300 dpi or more. Also you must make sure that all of the images and the text are 6 mm away from the edges so that none of your artwork is cut off.

Finally do not send publisher files or PowerPoint files these are very difficult for the printer to customize and re-size.

When designing one of these posters in Photoshop you should select > new file under the presets option and select the option A1 size.

Alternatively you can create your own preset by entering the measurements and save the name as “A1 poster size” for future use.

A good policy to follow when designing using the a1 poster size is to include wording in large bulk letters and keep the spacing between these letters tight, this draws more attention to them, when you have a poster like this a minimalist approach is usually the best as there is not a whole lot of space for writing.

About A1 Paper Size

A1 Poster size Though the A1 paper size is not the most commonly used standard size of paper but it still has many uses. There is a standard known as ISO 216 which is a paper standard it qualifies A1 to be exactly double that of A2.

Top Uses of A1 Paper:

  • Printing posters
  • Advertisements
  • Yearly planners
  • Architectural and technical drawings

Advanced A1 Paper Size Logic:

  • A1 paper size is 1/2 that of A0
  • A1 paper size is 2 X the size of A2 and 4 X that of A3
  • A1 paper size is 8 X the size of A4
  • A1 paper size is 16 X the size of A5 and 32 X that of A6

Within the system of ISO for paper size there is a height-to-width ratio for all of the pages and it is the square root of two. For example the height and the width within a page will be related much like the side and the diagonal of a square.

This is a great boon to design since if you were to position two pages side by side or cut them parallel toward the shorter side in two pieces that are equal then your result would be a page which would again have the same height/width ratio.
